

Passionate about chamber and orchestral music, Sherry was invited to the Piano Trio Symposium led by the prestigious Juno Award-winning Gryphon Trio at the Orford Arts Centre in the summers of 2016 and 2017. She has also performed regularly with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra and the Peabody Wind Ensemble as an orchestral pianist, and has played under the baton of celebrated conductors including Marin Alsop and David Zinman.

An avid advocate for contemporary classical music, Sherry is known for her active role in the new music of Canada and America. She has collaborated with composers across the continent, performing and sharing her love of works by living composers in venues ranging from concert stages to public libraries. Her most recent projects include collaborations with the Consonance Collective on premiering five commissions of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. She is also featured on the recording of Yappie, A Musical Comedy, an original musical theatre soundtrack concept album sponsored by the Asian Pasifika Arts Collective. In 2019, Sherry performed in Musical Picture Whimsies: A Celebration of Art Through Music, an art and music fusion exhibit with music for Pierrot Ensemble by composer Bobby Ge and paintings by artists of Art 10 Baltimore. In addition, Sherry has performed and recorded for countless premiers of new music by contemporary composers, with a discography ranging from solo, chamber, to orchestral repertoire.

In addition to being a performing artist, Sherry is a music educator and accompanist. She currently serves on faculty at the Patterson Park Academy of Music, guiding young musicians of all ages and levels through her unique pedagogical perspective. As a collaborative pianist, Sherry works closely with instrumental and vocal students and faculty at the Peabody Conservatory. She is also a ballet accompanist for the dance departments at the Peabody Conservatory and Baltimore School for the Arts.

Sherry completed undergraduate studies on full scholarship at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music; her academic and artistic excellence were acknowledged by the University of Toronto Scholars Program as well as the Canadian Governor General’s Academic Medal. Her music festival appearances from 2015 to 2017 were sponsored by the David and Marcia Beach Summer Studies Award. She also holds an Associate diploma of the Royal Conservatory of Canada. She then proceeded to complete graduate studies and obtained her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University as a recipient of the Peabody Artistic Excellence Award. Her principal mentors include Lydia Wong, Enrico Elisi, Benjamin Pasternack, and the Gryphon Trio.
Passionate about solo, chamber, and new music, Canadian pianist Sherry Du is known for her deeply insightful performances and continues to share her music on diverse platforms. A versatile artist, she is dedicated to the performance of the classical repertoire as well as new works by emerging composers. She has made appearances in venues across Canada, America, and Europe to high acclaim.

A recognized artist of many national and international festivals and competitions around the world, Sherry has won top prizes at the Kiwanis Music Festival Competition, the CCC Music Festival Competition, and the Toronto Sinfonietta Concerto Competition. She has also performed in masterclasses conducted by some of the leading musical artists of today including Yoheved Kaplinsky, John Perry, Robert MacDonald, Boris Berman, Yong Hi Moon, Julian Martin, the Gryphon Trio, the New Orford String Quartet, to name a few. She has been invited to perform as a soloist and chamber musician in music festivals around the globe, including the Orford Music Festival in Québec, the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Maine, the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival in Florida, the Gijón International Piano Festival in Spain, the Pianale International Festival and Competition in Germany, and the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Italy.
